Picture MUST credit: Blue Origin Pop star Katy Perry and Lauren Sanchez , the fiancée of Amazon billionaire Jeff Bezos, amongst the six women in a space flight aboard the Jeff Bezos Blue Origin rocket . Blue Origin's 11th human flight, NS-31, lifted off from Site One in West Texas for the trip in The six women are: former NASA rocket scientist Aisha Bowe, 38; bioastronautics researcher and civil rights activist Amanda Nguyen, 38; TV journalist Gayle King, 70, Pop star Perry , 40, film producer Kerianne Flynn , 35, and journalist Sánchez, 55. Jeff Bezos was there to see the woman safely into their New Shepard capsule before take-off. The woman experienced four minutes of weightlessness. During the roughly 10-minute flight, the crew flew just above the Kármán line, an invisible boundary at an altitude of 62 miles / 100 km widely accepted as the edge of space, before the capsule descended under parachutes and landed in the Texas desert. BGUK_3210000 - Los Angeles, CA - Katy Perry, Lauren Sánchez and Gayle King are back on solid ground after their Blue Origin edge of space trip. The trio were part of an all female crew who went into space and as they returned Perry showed off the daisy she took with her before kissing the ground while King and Sánchez reflected on their trip as well as the criticism surrounding it. Following the Blue Shephard's 11-minute round-trip expedition to the edge of space on Monday, April 14, Blue Origin's first all-female flight crew - which also included rocket scientist Aisha Bowe, bioastronautics research scientist Amanda Nguyen and film producer Kerianne Flynn - caught up with reporters during a press conference about their experience shortly after they returned on Flight NS-31. Asked to respond to the criticism about the flight - which actress Olivia Munn voiced earlier this month on the Today With Jenna and Friends - King said that in her eyes: “Anybody that’s criticizing it doesn’t really understand what is happening here. We can all speak to the response we're getting from young women from young girls about what this represents.” Sánchez, the fiancée of Blue Origin founder Jeff Bezos who was on the ground to welcome the crew back to earth, then added her thoughts, saying: "I get really fired up. I would love to have them come to Blue Origin and see the thousands of employees that don't just work here but they put their heart and soul into this vehicle. They love their work and they love the mission and it's a big deal for them. So when we hear comments like that, I just say, trust me. Come with me. I'll show you what this is about, and it's, it's really eye opening.” During the press conference, viewers also got to see a clip of the group while they were in space, which included Perry bringing a small daisy with her, a sweet nod to her daughter. As they came back down to Earth, Perry also sang a few bars of What a Wonderful World and during the press conference, Perry said that she ‘wasn’t sure’ if she was going to sing at all, but that she ‘did come around’ to it. "It was so beautiful," added King, who said the song was the perfect choice. The mission departed from Launch Site One in West Texas on Monday April 14, marking both the 11th mission in Blue Origin's New Shepard program and the 31st in its overall history. The crew also marked the first all-female flight crew since 1963, when Soviet cosmonaut Valentina Tereshkova flew solo.
